a puzzle.

Every day we are putting together the puzzle of life.  How we fit into the world, how others fit into us, and what does it all mean.  BUT, we are never given the overall picture that we are creating.

Some times, probably the hardest/most interesting times of my life, I get a piece that just doesn't fit.  After analyzing that piece I find that my mental picture of the overall puzzle was incorrect.  Usually not a significant change, but enough that we need to step back and re-examin our puzzle of life and find the "correct" place for this piece.

The trouble comes when we are stubborn.  We feel that our overall picture of life is correct and this piece doesn't fit because it's the pieces fault (or the manufacture's fault), and not our fault for forcing it into a place that it doesn't belong.

No matter how hard you push, these pieces will not fit into the wrong place.

So be willing to change your puzzle to correctly include everyone and everything.  Or you will just have to throw out those "misfit" pieces and lose the chance of seeing the beauty of the final product.

  1. Well that is just beautiful.

I actually really like it! I have this cookie cutter idea of what my life should be like and sometimes, I feel like my puzzle/life picture is not going to look good unless i take a hammer and start smashing my misfit puzzle piece into the spot I think it should go. When really it might not go there at all.

We are just an inspirational family aren't we. It's probably from our Mother relating everything back to a seminary lesson.

  2. Exactly! We are cursed to always think of things in analogies! I wasn't going to make this blog cheesy, but it just comes out! I need an intervention. Next post I'll try to not make cheesy!
